Summary: Led by foreman Dennis and the mercurial Oz, a seven strong crew of unemployed builders leave Britain to find work as bricklayers in Germany. Years later the group reunite to work on renovating a stately home before heading off to Spain to work on their bosses villa.
It's twenty-five years since Dennis, Neville and Oz said 'auf wiedersehen, pet' to their wives and left Britain to find work as bricklayers in Germany, and the multi award-winning show is still as popular as ever. AUF WIEDERSEHEN PET was a classic comedy-drama that encapsulated the spirit of Britain under Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s, and featured a great ensemble cast that barely changed across four series and a two-part Christmas special. The first series introduced a likeable bunch of unemployed builders who are forced to start working in Germany as a last option. Led by foreman Dennis (Tim Healy) and the mercurial Oz (Jimmy Nail), the seven strong crew attempt to get by in a foreign country and end up in plenty of scrapes. The second series saw them reunited and working on renovating a stately home before heading off to Spain to work on their bosses villa. In 2002 the original cast, apart from the late Gary Holton, reunited over a decade after the last series. This time, Oz fakes his own funeral to bring the lads back together as he has a business proposal to put to them. What follows are the usual scrapes and skirmishes as the gang set about dismantling the Middlesbrough Transporter bridge and moving it to the middle of the Nevada desert. This terrific box set includes all four series.
