Summary: BEATRICE DI TENDA was one of Vincenzo Bellini's forgotten operas, it was re-staged more than a hundred years after the composer's death. Admired by Richard Wagner at the time, Bellini was a composer who tried many different styles of operas, and this more 'experimental' opera was considered a failure at the time. It is not considered one Bellini's greatest works, but one that contains many strong elements with the title role being coveted by sopranos as a showpiece. This production was filmed at the Opernhaus, Zurich in 2001.
