Summary: A newspaper editor in the 1920s works for the American owned Tokyo Chronicle. He reports on a controversial story and is asked by the Japanese authorities to retract it. When this is refused he is implicated in a murder... Includes a documentary following the life of James Cagney.

This special DVD presentation spotlights the megawatt star power of James Cagney with one of his greatest films and a documentary about his life and career.
BLOOD ON THE SUN:
Condon (James Cagney), tough guy extraordinaire, attempts to warn the rest of the world against the 'Tanaka Plan,' a Japanese militarist plot in the early 1930's that is bent on world domination. One of the first American martial arts movies, BLOOD ON THE SUN sees Cagney doing his own stunts, for which he trained intensively with Ken Kuniyuki, a fifth degree judo master.

JAMES CAGNEY ON FILM:
James Cagney was the epitome of 'movie star'--the ultimate performer, a song and dance man, and a versatile actor. In films such as PUBLIC ENEMY and ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES, he was the tough guy's tough guy. Then he could give an Oscar-winning performance as George M. Cohan in YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, or stir up nostalgia in 1981's RAGTIME. This documentary looks at his life, from his childhood in New York to his hallowed career and troubled relationship with Warner Brothers studios.
