Summary: A tough western tale in which one man finds himself having to defend his land against predators.
A tough cattle baron fights con artists, corrupt officials--even Billy the Kid--in order to keep his ranch. It comes down to the town founder John Chisum (John Wayne) against the immoral Lawrence Murphy (Forrest Tucker) and the town isn't going to be big enough for both of them. Wayne's been here before, as have we.

John Wayne plays a no - nonsense John Chisum , a cattle king determined to protect his empire against a land - grabbing developer
( Forest Tucker ) . This is a fine film directed by Andrew V. McLaglen
with plenty of action including a Billy the Kid scenario intertwined in the film which has a good supporting cast including Ben Johnson ,
Christopher George , Bruce Cabot , Glenn Corbett ( Pat Garrett ) ,
Richard Jaeckel , Geoffrey Duel ( Billy the Kid ) and Lynda Day George .
