From the heyday of Czech New Wave cinema, Jiri Menzel's CLOSELY OBSERVED TRAINS tells the affectionately filmed tale of innocent railway apprentice Milos, in German-occupied Czechoslovakia and his own preoccupation with losing his virginity. Naively oblivious to the events around him, he gets embroiled in a plot to blow up a German train full of ammunition. A delightful black comedy filled with delicious sexual metaphors (including the famous "rubber stamp" scene) to illustrate Milos' frustrations. It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1968.
