Summary: In 'Diplomatic Siege' a General is assigned the task of updating the Pentagon's security system at the Embassy in Romania. Suddenly the Embassy is attacked by armed terrorists and all personnel taken hostage. In 'Phoenix' Harry is a good-hearted but superstitious cop but his work-mates take advantage which results in him being forced to pay off gambling debts by dubious means. 'The Runner' tells of a young man who is addicted to gambling and has a large debt to pay off. His uncle gets him a job as a 'runner' who places bets with bookies and for the best part of the time he behaves himself.
