Summary: In 'Jailhouse Rock' Elvis learns to sing and play a guitar in prison and later becomes a talented rock star. 'Trouble With Girls' is the story of a manager of a travelling show who gets into plenty of trouble with girls and other characters during a one week booking in a small town. In 'Spinout' a racing car driver is invited to drive an experimental car in a road race. He also has a number of women after him. 'Double Trouble' tells of a musician who is caught up in a tangled love affair and then finds himself entangled with kidnappers, murderers, spies and counterspies.
Contains four classic Elvis movies:
JAILHOUSE ROCK (1957):
After learning to play guitar and sing during a stint in the Big House, a minor-league punk kid becomes a rock star, with a little help from a beautiful agent. But the pressures of fame wear him down. Considered by many to be Presley's best film because of its eerie narrative prescience, noirish setting, and quality songs, especially the poolside performance of "You're So Square" and of course the title song.
THE TROUBLE WITH GIRLS (1969):
An eclectic blend of whodunit, melodrama, comedy and Americana. Elvis stars as Walter Hale, the manager of a "Chautauqua," a travelling educational/motivational show, whose tour takes him and his company to a small town in the Midwest circa 1927. Aside from the friction between Walter's crew and the locals, one of the residents, a jealous pharmacist, is found murdered. While the travelling performers decide the show must go on, and the residents debate whether to support or reject it, Walter realises the onus is on him to solve the mystery.
SPINOUT (1966):
In the bliss of bachelorhood, it's hard enough for a man to fend off the advances of one woman, much less four. This is exactly what befalls Mike McCoy (Elvis Presley). The romantic singer, rock band leader, and sometime stock car driver finds himself the target of princess-like rich girl Cynthia, sexy-voiced fashion plate Diana, true-love Susan, and Les, the butch lady drummer in his band. Three of these women will end up with either a stressed-out administrative assistant, a policeman chef, or an auto racing bigwig. Only one will be able to pierce through the facade of the hardened bachelor and show him the true romantic he really is.
DOUBLE TROUBLE (1967):
While performing in Europe, a surprisingly mod Elvis gets caught up with a teenage heiress (Annette Day), a femme fatale (Yvonne Romain) and a jewel smuggling operation. Ultimately gangsters and the police come along to join the cool 60's fun. Nine top songs are featured, including "Could I Fall in Love," "It Won't Be Long."
