Summary: The Escaflowne anime series follows the exploits of a young schoolgirl, Hitomi Konzaki, who is an ordinary enough high school student until a column of light transports her to a strange world called Gaea. Hitomi aligns herself with a young knight named Van, whom she saw in a vision prior to being transported, and together they begin a perilous journey with Escaflowne, the legendary god of protection. In these episodes, Van is overpowered and imprisoned by his enemies while Hitomi races to figure out where he is being held captive.
