WHERE EAGLES DARE finds two soldiers who are parachuted into the Bavarian Alps. Their mission is to rescue an American general from an almost impregnable Nazi fortress, which can be reached only by cable car. Based on the successful Alistair MacLean novel. Stanley Kubrick's FULL METAL JACKET serves up a riveting look at military life during the Vietnam conflict, and the behaviour of men in battle. The story is told through the eyes of Private Joker (Matthew Modine), a cynical aspiring photojournalist who is soon forced to fight for his life and the lives of his fellow recruits. Adapted from Gustav Hasford's novel THE SHORT TIMERS, FULL METAL JACKET is an unrelenting, intelligent, and challenging examination of war told by a master filmmaker.
