Stars: Robert PowellSummary: Following the succesful campaign by the Japanese which humbled the English and forced them backed into India; the war in the East seemed all but lost for the Allies. However Lieutenant Colonel Orde Wingate had other ideas and proposed the creation of a marauding force with the aim of disrupting the Japanese supply lines; a plan that meant that the Empire troops would be behind enemy lines and supplied only by air. The name of this force was the Chindits (a name taken from the mythical beasts that guard Burmese Temples) and their exploits proved to the Japanese that the English could fight in the Jungle. This volume of GLADIATORS OF WORLD WAR II focuses on the story of the Chindits.
