Van journeys across the wild and lawless frontier of the planet Endless Illusion with a shape-shifting sword and powerful armour to protect. He aims to find the clawed man who murdered his wife. After saving a town under attack from thugs, he reluctantly takes on traveling companion Wendy Garrett. In exchange for his help in finding her brother, she offers herself to Van as a wife.
