Summary: This is the pilot episode of the short-lived ABC series that used James Sadwith's interesting premise to tell a wide variety of stories about murder and betrayal, all of which are triggered by the appearance of a mysterious handgun. In the first segment, COLUMBUS DAY (directed by Sadwith), a security guard (James Gandolfini) buys a gun for his wife's protection without realizing that it was the weapon used in a highly important political assassination. His wife, Lilly (Rosanna Arquette), wastes her days aimlessly until she meets an attractive neighbor in the laundry room. The neighbor, Jack Keyes (Peter Horton), is a charming writer who brings out the simmering passion within Lilly. When she eventually discovers his selfishness, she takes away the thing most important to him and ends up with a happier ending than she ever could have imagined. Robert Altman's ALL THE PRESIDENT'S WOMEN tells the comical story of Bill Johnson (Randy Quaid), a newly appointed country-club president in Texas whose wife (Daryl Hannah) and mistresses (Jennifer Tilly, Sean Young, and Dina Spybey) mysteriously receive gun parts through the mail. When Tilly's mother (Sally Kellerman) discovers his adulterous affair with her daughter, she uses the gun in a nontraditional way, teaching Bill an even more painful lesson in the process. Original, daring, and entertaining, GUN only aired for half a season. Luckily, this release remains to document the series.
