A lot of action, guns, and violence, all masterfully rendered by action maestro John Woo (THE KILLER, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2). This is the last film the director made in his native Hong Kong before emigrating to the United States.

Before John Woo became westernized he made a handful of fantastic Eastern action movies. This being one of the finest. The story is watchable though does drag occassionally, but the action is what charges this movie along. Reality has been suspended as noone reloads and there's a seemingly neverending stream of cannon fodder. If you're action doesn't need to be realistic, I recommend this, as it's thrills and spills will make you gasp. However, if a film needs to be realistic for you to get full enjoyment, you might be best to give this a wide birth.
