Summary: When a meteor collides with an asteroid it sends debris to Earth. Even small impacts are wiping out life when they hit. The American government realises that it has to act and turns to an inventor Dr David Corbett who has designed a machine powerful enough to destroy the meteor heading for the planet. But a cult leader has other plans for the Earth and abducts the doctor to keep him from his work...

Deep in space, a meteor collides with a giant asteroid. If fragments from the crash strike earth all life will be eliminated. The government hires Dr. Richard Secor (David Wells)--developer of the THOR anti-meteor device--to stop the impending storm of flaming stone. Everything would be fine, if only Dr. Secor were not in the hands of Thomas Payne (Mario Van Peebles). Payne is a deranged religious cult-leader convinced that the asteroid celestial collision is God's will. With the doctor held hostage by a mad man, the government has no choice but to release a convict named Reese (Ice-T), the zealot's arch-nemesis. Will Reese thwart Payne, release Secor, and redeem himself in time to save the earth
