Summary: Comic tale set in Liverpool, which follows the fortunes of two girls who fall for two Russian sailors. They discover that love in Russia must be better than being in Liverpool on the dole.
Two working class girls Teresa and Elaine (Clarke and Pigg) attempt to escape the dreariness of their grimy industrial Liverpool life at the factory by frequenting the local disco in search of sex, adventure and romance. They meet a pair of Russian sailors, Sergei and Peter (Firth and Molina) and true love blossoms for Elaine, but the problem is Peter must return home to Russia and she is determined to follow him. She writes a letter to the Soviet leader Brezhnev, describing her plight, and is amazed to receive a reply! Will she leave her 1980s industrial hell and follow her heart to an uncertain life in uncertain Russia

A great British love story set in Liverpool starring Margi Clarke , Peter Firth , Alfred Molina and Alexandra Pigg in a Chris Bernard directed film . Two lasses , Elaine and Teresa meet two Russian sailors on a night out , but Teresa wants more than one night of passion , even if it means a life in Russia .
