Summary: Accident-prone Lizzie McGuire (Hillary Duff) gets the adventure of a lifetime when she takes a two-week school trip to Rome following her junior high school graduation. On her first day in the Eternal City, Lizzie meets Paolo (Yani Gellman), half of a famous Italian pop duo. Paolo and his partner, Isabella, have recently split up due to creative differences. With the exception of her blonde tresses, all-American Lizzie is a dead ringer for the dark-haired Isabella, and charming Paolo persuades her to pretend she's Isabella at an important awards show. Posing as the diva, Lizzie is waited on hand and foot and admired by millions--and she gets to hang out with a cute Italian boy who seems to like her. Of course, sneaking away from her school tour is no easy feat, especially with group leader Miss Ungermeyer (Alex Borstein) on watch. But with the help of her lifelong pal, Gordo (Adam Lamberg), who also harbours a secret crush on his best friend, Lizzie gets to live out her fantasies. Robert Carradine, Hallie Todd, Ashlie Brillault, and Clayton Snyder reprise their roles from the Disney television series of the same name in this feature from director Jim Fall (TRICK).

The Lizzie McGuire Moviespins around the axis of Disney Channel starlet Hilary Duff, whose glossy good looks and rather mature figure are balanced by a sweetly bashful persona and an endearing klutziness. On a school trip to Rome, Lizzie is discovered to be the virtual twin of an Italian pop star named Isabella--and her dreamy former partner wants Lizzie to take Isabella's place at an award show to avoid a lawsuit. Only Lizzie's loyal best friend Gordo (Adam Lamberg) suspects that Paolo may not be all that he seems. The Lizzie McGuire Movieis competent fluff, with the most fun to be had coming from Lizzie's pesky little brother (Jake Thomas) and his Machiavellian friend Melina (Carly Schroeder), who plot to humiliate Lizzie for fun and personal gain.
