Summary: When teenage girl Jake Ferrari is abandoned by her mother she goes to move in with her sister Darlene. However, Darlene does not want her around and Jake is stranded in Los Angeles. Luckily Darlene's neighbour Marci takes her in. But when Jake discovers Marci runs a massage parlour she wants to work there, despite Marci's reservations.
Sweet-toothed Jake (Tara Subkoff) is suddenly abandoned by her mother and winds up travelling to Los Angeles to move in with her sister (Kristy Swanson) who doesn't want her around either. She's taken in by Marci (Sandra Bernhard), who manages the massage parlour next door called Jean's American Spa. Soon Jake is working as a masseuse and meeting a whole new family of people. A light, funny coming of age story.
