Summary: Shankar moves into a deserted mansion that has a tragic history. He sees a portrait of a beautiful woman, the former owner's mistress, Kamini who had died mysteriously. He becomes obsessed with her and she begins to haunt him. Kamini's ghost tells Shankar that if they are to be united, he must marry the gardener's daughter, Asha, who is Kamani's reincarnation. Afraid of losing his sanity, Shankar marries another woman, Ranjana, but even this does not give him peace of mind.
