Summary: In 'Ballad Of The Sad Cafe' we see and hear the story of a tangled love triangle set in a southern town during the Depression. 'The Bostonians' tells of the daughter of a faith healer who is forced to choose between her mother's religious activities and her desire to use her speaking ability to further the women's suffragette movement. 'The Europeans' is an adaptation of Henry James' novel and is the story of Americans, Countess Eugenia and her brother Robert, who have lived most of their lives in Europe and who are now returning to New England. 'Jane Austen In Manhattan' tells the story of two Manhattan theatre companies who fight for the right to produce a Jane Austen play. In 'The Proprietor' a New York writer decides to sell-up and return to her native home in France. 'Roseland' consists of three stories set in a New York dance palace and the theme is the same in each - to find the right dance partner.
