Summary: A tough Alaskan gold digger (John Wayne) agrees to pick up his partner's (Stewart Granger) fiancee, but winds up bringing back a beautiful substitute instead. With both men vying for her favour, trouble inevitably breaks out between the best friends, exacerbated by a shifty con-man (Ernie Kovacs) hoping to steal the men's gold claim. The Duke is in usual macho form in this entertaining Alaskan adventure, based on the play BIRTHDAY GIFT by Laszlo Fodor.

The Duke is in fine form here in this rousing comedy - adventure set in the Alaskan Gold Rush where he plays a tough gold prospector
alongside Stewart Grainger who is his partner , and this movie directed by Henry Hathaway gives Big John Wayne an opportunity to show his lighter side. Wayne is on good - natured , cussin' form in this frontier adventure which has a fine supporting cast including Ernie Kovacs in fine form as a con - man who tries to swindle our heroes out of their claim. Rousing boys own stuff.
