A series of strange mathematically-based murders have the normally peaceful community on edge. The situation is not helped by the police's hasty dismissal of any 'serial killer theories', and their disregard for the complex logic puzzles left in the murderer's wake. Elijah Wood stars as Martin, a graduate student who, after finding his elderly landlady murdered, teams up with his Logic professor Artur Seldom (John Hurt) to attempt to solve the mathematical clues and symbols and catch the killer.
