THE PALACE follows the exploits of a fictional British Royal Family living in Buckingham Palace. After the death of the King, his eldest son Prince Richard (Rupert Evans) takes over the throne at the tender age of 24. As his mother Queen Charlotte (Jane Asher) mourns the death of her husband she turns to her manservant Jeremy for support. Princess Eleanor (Sophie Winkleman) is the oldest child and proud of her Royal stature, but her anger at being passed over for the crown threatens a rift in the family. As Richard's younger brother and sister enjoy and adjust to their roles, in equal measure, he is left with the daunting task of leading a nation whilst keeping the press sweet as they sharpen their knives ready for his fall.
This glossy, high-concept series takes you inside a private world of secrets, backstabbing, power-play, family honour and duty. Clearly having fun with its creative licence, yet acknowledging that sometimes truth can be just as sensational as fiction.
