Post-punk heroes the Pretenders, led by the great, mopped-hair singer Chrissie Hynde, are one of the most influential bands in pop music history. On THE ISLE OF VIEW, Hynde and company perform a live, acoustic set featuring songs from their 1995 album of the same name. They are wonderfully backed by the Duke Quartet, a classical string ensemble. Songs played include "Brass in Pocket," "Back on the Chain Gang," a cover of Radiohead's "Creep" and thirteen others, with Blur's Damon Albarn appearing as a guest pianist on "I Go To Sleep."
