Summary: Detective Superintendent Tennison takes over a murder investigation by pulling rank on a junior officer. Her team identify a chief suspect but are unable to find enough evidence for an arrest. When another murder occurs the arrest is secured, but Tennison is convinced that there's more here than meets the eye. When she tracks the murders to a protected war criminal she must gamble everything to bring the real culprit in.

This installment of the acclaimed television series once again follows the exploits of Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison (Helen Mirren), who has to investigate murders involving involving asylum seekers. Tennison has to travel to Bosnia to bring the murderer to justice.
