Summary: A retired agent is blackmailed by the FBI into going after a Chicago mob family. What follows is a lot of shooting, graphic violence, and Arnie doing what he does best... wiping out the bad guy.

A Chicago Mafia is violently doing away with witness who were to incriminate them in court. Schwarzenegger is the ex-FBI agent enlisted to slip into the nefarious organisation. Violence and bloodshed ensue, as Schwarzenegger delivers his own brand of justice!

From the very outset you know what you're in for with this film. In some ways, one of my favourite arnie films. The acting is hammy, the script mediochre, the gunshot wounds ludicrously over the top, the amount of deaths huge, the one liners hysterical, and the soundtrack is nothing but 80s electro bass and cheesey guitar riffs. Everything you need from an Arnie film. This is pure enjoyment. Gloriously 80s.

A by-the-numbers action flick featuring a stern Arnold Schwarzenegger, Raw Dealhas all the traditional traits of the genre. Schwarzenegger is a disgraced former FBI agent who winds up as sheriff of a backwater Southern town. He is given a chance to reclaim his job when the head of the Bureau offers him reinstatement if he'll go undercover to capture the mob boss responsible for killing his son. Schwarzenegger must get close enough to gain the trust of the gangster without being discovered as a mole, while gathering enough evidence to take him down. One of Schwarzenegger's early films, in which he honed his persona, Raw Dealoffers up the usual quotient of gun battles and tough talk, with a trace of self-deprecating humour from its star, making it reasonably worthwhile entertainment. --Robert Lane
