A freeform, plotless ode to enormously-breasted models, Return of the Ultra Vixens is not a new entry in Russ Meyer's 1970s series of cartoon-like sexploitation pictures (Supervixens, Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens) but a simple exercise in bust fetishism akin to Meyer's Mondo Topless. In place of Meyer's witty editing and sharp visuals, presumably pseudonymous director Setec Astronomy offers a lot of ambient and/or scratch music and some minor MTV-style visual trickery to punch up wobbly-focus documentary shots of several nude women hanging out (literally) in Los Angeles, soaping themselves in the shower, visiting a bank safety deposit vault (what a turn-on!), hosing down their assets, jiggling in lap-dancing clubs, examining their tattoos in close-up, playing with themselves while driving on the freeway (not recommended), wandering by the railroad or simply writhing around alone in their apartments. The girls are Pandora Peaks, Lulu Devine, Fantasia, Kim Eternity, Alexis Love and Candy--none of whom have much going for them beyond harsh smiles, a miraculous ability to walk on high heels despite an uncertain centre of gravity and chest-mounted flesh-coloured watermelons. It's much like a video about model railways or Mongolian cookery--fabulously exciting if you're into that sort of thing, excruciatingly boring if you aren't. --Rainbow Christen
