Summary: The story of a man put in charge of building a chemical plant in an impoverished part of Poland, and the resistance of the local townspeople to this development.
The debut feature by Krysztof Kieslowski, THE SCAR is the story of Stefan Bednarz (Franciszek Pieczka) who is heading up a new chemical plant in the poor town of Olecko in Poland. Though try as he might to convince the townspeople that this new factory will improve their lives, Stefan ultimately has trouble convincing himself since homes will need to be demolished and the ill effects on the environment. All of Kieslowski's films have such beauty and enigmatic appeal, it is easy to watch them numerous times and get something new each time.
