Summary: Based on the autobiographical novel by Lorena Mazzetti, this is the story of a girl called Penny set in Tuscany against the backdrop of the end of World War II in 1944. Italian dialogue with subtitles.

Told through the eyes of a young girl, THE SKY IS FALLING is the story of two orphaned girls who go to live with their Aunt and her wealthy German Jewish husband in their villa in Tuscany. Taking place in 1944 and going up to the end of the second world war in Europe, the girls idyllic life is slowly changed forever as the dreadful events of the war unfold around them.

This film portrays the events which take place from the summer of 1944 until the tragic conclusion of the war . These include the friendships established with the peasant children , school , religious
problems , the growing awareness of a cruel , inescapable reality ,
the discovery of the first furtive contacts of love and the management of Uncle Wilhelm ( an idealistic intellectual and advocate of justice) .
The Sky is Falling is adapted from the novel '' Il Cielo Cade '' by
Lorenza Mazzetti and is an Italian Golden Globe Winner starring
Isabella Rossellini and Jeroen Krabbe . It has Italian dialogue and
subtitles.
