The minbar had survived for almost 800 years, only to be desecrated in an arson attack in 1969. It had stood as a masterpiece of Islamic art, rich in intricate detail and constructed without nails or glue. Through surviving photographs we can still marvel at its craftsmanship and appreciate it's exceptional story.
