This football fairy tale follows the life of young Jimmy Grimble (Lewis McKenzie), a shy Manchester school boy. When an old woman (Jane Lapotaire) rescues Jimmy from being roughed up by bullies, she gives him a pair of boots that belonged to a City legend. Soon Jimmy's on his way to becoming a top player. The charming film also features Robert Carlyle, Ray Winstone, and Gina McKee.

This surely has to be one of the best British football films in ages .
Jimmy Grimble ( Lewis McKenzie ) would do anything to become a
football professional and play for his beloved Manchester City . He lacks self confidence and is continually bullied at school by older boys . His mum has shacked up with her moronic biker boyfriend and not Jimmy's favourite father like figure Harry ( Ray Winstone )
who has an affinity with the boy and also liks watching City . When Jimmy is given a pair of old magic boots by an old baglady , he becomes the schools best player . Magical .
