In The Rulesmercilessly honest fashion judges Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine tackle the main problematic fashion areas--tits, arms, legs, bums and waists, saddlebags and tummies--in a way that liberates and celebrates the female form. Their mantra is "show off the bits you like and hide the rest". On paper, the duo has all the credentials for the remainder pile: a couple of posh birds who aren't skinny, young, or glitzy enough to be famous for just hanging out with the famous. But this is exactly why their mission to demystify style has taken them from cult newspaper column, to popular TV show, a bestselling book and now a cracking DVD.

They're down-to-earth, normal women well-equipped to operate as something of a fashion life-coaching team. As for the plummy voices, which at times border on Absolutely Fabulousterritory, that's just the entertainment lacing the expertise. Most compelling and inspiring is their willingness to model the worst mistakes for every single problem area. Unlike most how-to or make-over programmes in which one wonders how the presenter actually fares in real life, Trinny and Susannah bravely reveal their own problem areas. Anyone who doubted their What Not to Wearcredentials will be won over.
