Summary: Lily and Sophie are two young women working as seamstresses during the blitz in the East End of London. They meet and fall for two Canadian servicemen, Charlie and Louie. The two couples are married within a couple of weeks and in due course the men are shipped of to the front, Lily and Sophie receive instructions from the Canadian Embassy that they are to travel to Canada to live with their new in-laws.

During the London Blitz, two childhood friends fall for Canadian soldiers. Lily (Anna Friel, THE LAND GIRLS) marries her man and becomes pregnant, like so many young women at the time, just as the father is posted abroad. She emigrates with her young baby to Canada as a 'war bride' to stay with her husband's unwilling family on their remote farm to eagerly await her husband's homecoming. From a director who has cut his teeth in TV, with fine support from Brenda Fricker and Molly Parker THE WAR BRIDE is a powerful drama.
