In THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO, a young waitress working during the Depression enlivens her rather dull existence by going to the movies. One day by strange chance she becomes intimately involved with a real-life screen star. HANNAH AND HER SISTERS is a comedy that examines the contemporary relationships and romantic attachments of three sisters living in New York. RADIO DAYS is a comedy tale of an adolescent who is besieged by hovering relatives and utterly bewitched by the radio. A lighthearted look at the era of the big bands of Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller, which also offers a glance at the Manhattan nightlife of the time. SEPTEMBER is an intimate drama is set in the last days of summer in a Vermont country house where six characters discover the pain and pleasure of life and relationships. It's about mothers and daughters, and emotions that are universally recognisable. It's about trying to survive in a world of difficult relationships. ANOTHER WOMAN is about a college professor who, on vacation, overhears a conversation by her next-door neighbour. She discovers he is a psychiatrist, and whilst listening in on one of his sessions she is forced to face her own life honestly and in consequence turn it around.
